Future-oriented packaging steel for aerosol cans at the FEA Global Aerosol Event

  • Publicado el 08 de Octubre de 2018

At the FEA Global Aerosol Event in Düsseldorf, thyssenkrupp Rasselstein GmbH, a global supplier of high-tech packaging steels, and MAIKO Engineering GmbH, a specialist in tool and machine construction, demonstrated thickness reduction potentials when using the new rasselstein® Solidflex packaging steel.

Just recently launched on the market, rasselsteinSolidflex is already widely used in the production of aerosol can bottoms and tops. Yield strengths of at least 600 MPa, combined with an elongation of over five percent, are ideal for manufacturing these components. At the trade fair, thyssenkrupp Rasselstein GmbH and MAIKO Engineering GmbH will present the initial results of their recently launched technology partnership.

“Thanks to its properties, not only is rasselstein® Solidflex the ideal material for producing aerosol can bottoms and tops, but it also enables thickness reductions”, said Andreas Tschage, application technology development engineer at the packaging steel manufacturer. “We are confident that in MAIKO Engineering we have found a strong partner that is renowned for its expertise in tool development and tool construction, and with whom we can collaborate to realize the thickness reduction potentials in production conditions.” Marco Hein, CEO of MAIKO Engineering GmbH, adds “We have optimized our forming tools precisely in order to harness this potential.”

Both companies introduced their technology partnership to an interested audience at the thyssenkrupp Rasselstein GmbH stand at the trade fair. Along with rasselstein® Solidflex, the packaging steel manufacturer's portfolio of mounting cup material is also a key focus here. The Andernach-based company has an exceptional variety of steel grades for every application and every filling: tinned or special chromium-coated, plain, lacquered or film laminated. “Thanks to this portfolio of products, we are fully capable of meeting our customers’ wide range of requirements”, said Hans-Peter Klein, Head of Sales Special Products at thyssenkrupp Rasselstein GmbH. “In addition to a wide variety of coating combinations and surfaces, as well as different lacquer coating weights, material and film thicknesses, we of course also offer BPA-NI solutions.”

thyssenkrupp Rasselstein GmbH maintains long-standing supply relationships with many of its customers and provides them with intensive support when new challenges arise. Since the mounting cup component requires competent consulting and relevant expertise, the company has set up a dedicated competence team for sales and technical customer support. “Our mounting cup material is characterized by its diversity and consistent, reliable quality. It stands for excellent formability, very good homogeneity, close tolerances and high durability when in contact with the product," concludes Klein.
